Carnivals of Illustration

It was a ton of fun to be invited back to the Learning Carnival for the 5th year in a row! The Learning Carnival is for the gifted and talented students of Morris County schools. I think they allow kids from grades 3 to 5. The workshop I present is on illustration.

Showing in Chester!

I've been showing several paintings at LeReve gallery in Chester for a little while now. Today I delivered the remaining paintings. So, for the month of April, LeReve will be showing my full collection of Giclee painting reproductions. 

Featured Artist - Discover Jersey Arts!

We are really excited to get some great new exposure throughout all of New Jersey! We're honored to say that Discover Jersey Arts has announced me as their Featured Artist of he month for April.

Showing in Califon!

We are happy to announce my paintings will now be featured in a Califon, New Jersey Gallery called Main Street Frame Shop. 

The gallery just moved into a new, larger space down the road from where they were previously located. The owner, Kathleen, is very nice and I am very proud to be among the other artists they represent. Swing by the gallery and have a look, maybe you'll see something you like!

Theatre and Art at the Barn

This past Friday, March 12th, the Barn Theatre in Montville, NJ opened it's latest comedy production, Epic Proportions. They invited me to show my paintings in their ticket area/gallery. We had quite a turn out and it was fun to see some familiar faces. Thank you to everyone who made it out. All twelve of my paintings are on display for the duration of the show. I've posted a few photos I took during the show.

The show was a ton of fun and we had a good laugh. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys comedies.

Three Cats a Charm!

Here's my latest commissioned oil painting portrait. I was asked to paint three cats for a Christmas gift. I had a great time and interesting challenge painting this pet portrait.

Won Billboard from the Highway Art Gallery

Thanks for all your votes on my paintings. My "Autumn in Long Valley" painting was one of the winners for the Palisades Car Insurance Highway Art Gallery contest. The painting is featured on a billboard of of Route 10 in Denville NJ!

I was interviewed today and my interview will air on WMBC-TV on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week!

Post Show

So the Solo Gallery Exhibition of my oil paintings went extremely well. We counted around 190 people that came! Here are some photos of the event!

Raised in Roxbury, New Jersey, Paul Kiesche found inspiration around every corner. From hiking in the area, to taking day trips to Philadelphia and Manhattan, Paul’s paintings are fueled by impactful memories of North Jersey and the surrounding area. Paul plans to share these paintings in his upcoming exhibition on May 29th.

A Walk Through ArtExpo

I spent Sunday at ArtExpo in New York City. It was a very nice experience. Supposively it was 1/6 it's size, but that is hard to believe. The show was massive. It took me quite a long time to go through it.

Selling Out?

Many of my students have made comments about selling out...They'll refer to artists that they like who have sold illustrations or designs to corporate America as sellouts. To this I reply, "At least they sold something".

I was inspired by this gallery exhibition of "Red Bull Art of Can". http://www.redbullartofcan.com where it's an obvious Marketing ploy to promote Red Bull through art. However, the artwork is pretty cool! Check it out.

What good is art if it's sitting in house somewhere instead of being hung up or printed for public purchasing. What good is talent if it's waiting for that perfect job instead of creating something that was commissioned. I do think there are times when artists "sell-out" and represent themselves poorly for the sake of a dollar. But... Selling to corporate America or to the masses is successful business and will gain exposure for the artist and hopefully pull them out of that one room loft. Whether you like it or not, art is a business and always has been. It's only recently that Artists have been undervaluing their work.
