In the office, it can't be said that we don't like a creative Christmas movie. The fact that this one has a quick twist that reminds me of the Twilight Zone only adds to the delight. The short animation Alma is the first film directed by Rodrigo Blaas. Blaas, on a creative break from Pixar, has already won awards and mentions for this animated short, and when you watch it you'll know why. We enjoyed this movie and thought you would to.
To find out more about Rodrigo's work on Alma, visit the official site. Hopefully Alma won't be the last of side projects we see from Pixar Talent.
My parents recently gave me a family treasure of vintage cartoons. My mother's father, Paul Dye, was not a professional artist, but was very creative. He attended The Landon Course of Cartooning, a Cartooning school by C.N. Landon. The cartoons are from 1926 and all the courses are typed out. 1926 was just at the end of the Golden Age of Illustration.
I recently brewed my own beer with some friends for my bachelor party and thought it would be fun to have the team design some labels. There are three flavors; Evil Twin Octoberfest, Old Man Oatmeal Stout, and Robstellaboc Hefeweizen. The beer is not for sale, but I thought it was fun to show off. Here are the custom designed and illustrated labels.
Thanks Jeff and Alex for the time and work you put into this project. Also, thank you Brian for the fun beer experience. By the way they taste amazing!
Here's a good site for the always entertaining Photoshop disasters. http://photoshopdisasters.blogspot.com/
This is why it's good for designers to learn illustration techniques!
A couple of months ago we were in Philly visiting a friend. So we stopped by the new Comcast building that changed the Philadelphia Skyline. Our friend mentioned a giant LCD screen that they wanted to see.
One of the reasons I watch the Superbowl is the commercials. It's not the only reason, but it's fun for a marketing professional to witness the commercials that are paying the big bucks. I think it's great that the Superbowl can demand such high prices for the ads, but I always wonder if it really is worth it.
